Last night, we decided to be adventurous and try snowshoeing for the first time. I was pretty scared at first cause all I had heard for the days leading up to the actually event was how hard it was, and that I was probably going to die. Which in reality it was the total opposite. So yesterday Jenny and Glenn [Will's sister and her husband], picked us up around 1 o'clock and we started the 2 hour drive to South Lake Tahoe.
Once we got into Tahoe we had some time to kill so we went to the Magic Carpet Mini-Golf, which is always a lot of fun [I almost won]. Then we went and had an early dinner at Sno-Flake Drive In, which supposedly has the best milkshakes in Tahoe three years running.
With full tummies we made our way up to the Sugar Pine Pt. National Forest and saw some beautiful views on the way up.
We got to our destination with a half hour to spare, so we spent sometime exploring the area and just having fun.
Our tour started at 7pm....yes we went on a night snowshoe hike which was amazing. We soon found out that this wasn't actually a hike but more of a tour of the park. It was a lot of stopping and going, and I think we might have actually learned something while we were there.
We left thoroughly pleased and dieing to do it all again.

Northstar
Yesterday William and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary at Northstar in Tahoe. Our anniversary was actually on the 6th but we had to keep pushing back our snow trip due to; bad weather, no babysitter, and just bad planning. So yesterday we finally got to go. It was so much fun and a ton of work. I have only been in the snow twice in my life and this was my first time snowboarding. The day before we went we rented my gear, and William already owned his own. We left the house about 7am to start our trek to Tahoe.
We got up there at about 9:30 and got a great parking spot and then rode the shuttle into Northstar. I did not realize how big and amazing it actually was until we got there. It is definitely worth the extra money.
We practiced for a while, which I now know I should have practiced more. But I really just wanted to jump into it, I felt I would do better if we just went for it. So we decided to take the trail that lead back to the village so that once we got to the bottom we could have lunch. In reality this trail takes about 15 minutes, it took me an hour and a half. By the time I got to the bottom of this LEVEL 2 hill, my pants were soaked from falling on my butt too much and I had a cantaloupe size bruise.
We made a snowman after one of my bigger falls, I might have needed a little break.
I did eventually get down the hill, but I didn't snowboard. I came up with a new kind of snowboarding. It was called sledding on my snowboard. Which was extremely fun and exhilarating.
After that it was lunch time. It was a great day so we went to our locker and dropped off our jackets and then headed to Mikuni's for lunch.
So after lunch I was pretty sore, so thinking ahead I brought a book, and kicked back and enjoyed the day from one of the couches while William went up and did some more snowboarding.
We headed home at about 4. Overall it was a very long day, but a ton of fun. I really can't wait to go again even if my body is really hating me today.

Our 1st Swim of the Year
Yesterday we went for your first swim of 2010. William had pulled a muscle in his back and it gave us a great reason to turn on the spa and go for a dip. Mavrick was a little skeptical at first figuring for months now we have been yelling "No" every time he has gotten anywhere close to the water, but eventually he warmed up. It was a great way to appreciate the changing of the seasons. Mavrick really wished we could have swam all day long, but sadly it was short lived.
